MY STORY
I am a born editor! Grammar and writing skills have always come easily to me, and I have been both an avid reader and writer since I was a child. My personality thrives on organization, attention to detail, and the pursuit of excellence. I see my gifts in editing and writing as a way to serve you by helping you improve your writing skills and present your best work to your final audience.

My training includes a B.S. in Communications from the University of Tennessee, where I earned a 3.95 GPA and received a Chancellor’s Citation for Extraordinary Academic Achievement. I have been writing and editing in various professional capacities since 1990, including as an account executive at an advertising agency (where I wrote for McDonald’s Restaurants, YMCA, Junior Achievement, and the University of Tennessee); as senior marketing director for a regional shopping mall (where I wrote advertising, public relations, and merchant training materials); and as director of marketing and public relations for the Knoxville Museum of Art (where I wrote advertising and public relations materials, a quarterly member magazine, and art history and education materials).

Over the last 20+ years, I have regularly written and spoken about manners and etiquette, customer service, interpersonal relationships, and Christian hospitality through my business Excellence and Etiquette. My work has appeared in publications such as Today’s Christian Woman, The Godly Business Woman, Chicken Soup for the Bride’s Soul, The Art of Helping, and other compilation books. In addition, I have contributed ongoing columns for local and regional publications including Christian Spotlight, Alive!, Zeeland Life, and other West Michigan periodicals.
After homeschooling my own children for 10 years, I taught weekly writing, grammar, and literature classes for groups of homeschooled students for six years, both at a local homeschool enrichment program as well as in my own home classroom, averaging 75 middle and high school students annually. I also provided private tutoring for special needs and advanced writing students.

I eventually stepped away from my part-time teaching schedule in order to focus full-time on my first love: editing and writing. Through Clare Omnia Editing, I provide freelance and contract editing, writing, and proofreading services to clients throughout the US as well as in Mexico, Uganda, and the UK.
Typical projects include magazine articles, white papers, and monthly social media calendars; novels, children’s stories, memoirs, and nonfiction books; employee handbooks, sales training manuals, and instruction manuals; corporate websites, weekly blog content, and business-to-business and business-to-consumer advertising materials; marketing/PR proposals and slide presentations; college application essays, academic papers, and professional resumes and bios.

I am the staff editor/wordsmith for myWHY Agency, an integrated marketing communications firm in Chicago. In addition, I am the content coordinator for three West Michigan magazines—Lakeshore Living, Zeeland Living, and CONNECT—published monthly by Best Version Media, for which I write original feature articles, edit content from readers and advertisers, and coordinate coverage of local sports, nonprofit initiatives, and community events. I am also the editor and lead writer for Big Orange Country Real Producers, a magazine for the top-producing REALTORS® in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The written word is such an amazing gift—such an effective tool for communication—and I’m so grateful for an interest and natural affinity in this area. And now...how can I be of service to you?
